My all time favorite experience since moving to New York has been Fall and the change of seasons. Watching the leaves change, wanting and needing a cute sweater or scarf, and inviting the elements of Fall into my home and on the table!

I wanted to share my all-time favorite recipe for mulled cider. It is a recipe the entire family can enjoy! If you want to spice it up, you can add red wine or 1 1/2 oz of rum or brandy per serving of cider. Don't feel intimidated by the "mulled spice". It is basically the ingredients I have listed below that you can grab in the spice section of your local market.

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Servings: 4

Recipe

  • 2 Tbs. mulling spices
  • 4 cups (32 fl. oz./1 l) apple cider
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 lemon or orange wedges (optional)

Mulled Spice

  • nutmeg
  • 1/4 allspice berries
  • 1/4 cup whole cloves
  • 2 tablespoons crystallized ginger (finely chopped)
  • double-layer cheesecloth
  • white string

It's Super Easy! Place the mulling spices in a tea infuser or you can wrapping a cheese cloth with a white string.

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the mulling spices with the cider. Bring to a simmer and simmer gently for 15 to 20 minutes.

To add some fun and a cute accent to the glass, I like to add a Salty-Sweet Rim. Pour a mix of sugar and dab of salt in a saucepan. Pour the caramel sauce or honey in a small saucer. Dip your glass into the caramel/honey. Then dip your glass into the sugar/salt mixture. Ladle the cider into your glass.

Cheers To The Weekend!
